Woolly Mammoth

I don't know if you can see it or not, but there's a woolly mammoth in this picture. What can I say? I live in Alaska - you just never know who you will see on the playground.

Driving the Tractor

There's a playground that I love to go to that has a huge tractor that you can drive All By Yourself!

Soymilk: It does a body good

Whenever my mom goes to the coffee shop, I have her order a little something special for me, too. There's nothing like a little espresso cup of soy milk to get to ya' going in the morning!

Ahh, Summer...

As we quickly turn to fall... and winter (!) here in Alaska, I thought I'd take just a few moments to remember the lovely days of summer. It was a delicious and colorful time, a time to eat smoked salmon and throw water balloons. A time to catch up with old friends. As we enter this colder, darker season let us remember how glorious our summer was, and know that summer will return again.

Fishing with Papa

Up here in Alaska, we fish with nets. I got to ride around on my papa's back while he tended to the net. Good thing too, he needed my help!

Words, words, words

Though I have strangely had the power to type in full sentences ever since I was born, I am just now acquiring the ability to string words together verbally.

So, a conversation with me goes something like this:

"Truck! Papa! Truck!"
Is that your truck?
"Yeah, yeah" nodding. "Seat, seat, seat, seat!"
You want to have a seat on your truck?
"Yeah! Moose, see?" showing me a toy cow. "It's a moose!"
That's your moosecow?
"Seat back."
You want to have a seat on your moose?
"Yeah! Walk, walk, walk!" walking him on my leg. "Boat!"
You love boats, I know.
"Yeah, Hudson, boat! Hudson!"
You want to go with Hudson on a boat?
"Yeah! Boat! Papa! Boat!"

And so on....

Hoopin' it Up

My mom has this Hoop Group every week, so my friends and I hang out in the park and play with hoops. It's pretty fun.

I like to get free rides, and carry around the big hoops. Grover is content to just hang out, and Hudson is already able to spin the hoop around him.

Oh, my mom says that I should tell you that her website cosmichoops.net will be up in a few weeks, and you should check it out if you want to order one of her awesome Cosmic Hoops!

Pop Art Baby

Tonei gave me this to remember him by. I guess that means that he misses me. We sure had a good time together in Anchorage!

Happy Birthday Mama!

My mom just turned 21!

(Oh, actually she says she's now 31. ) Who knew?

Lots of people say that Mama and Grandma look alike.
It think it's true, but I never have a hard time telling them apart.
They are both beautiful!

Summer Institute 2007

For the last week I've been helping my parents and my Auntie Miriam teach a video class at the Summer Institute, an environmental media camp put on by the Alaska Teen Media Institute, AYEA, and the WWF.

Its been a lot of fun! I've made a bunch of new friends, and even got to be in a few of the movies! You can check out the films and find out more about the camp at http://kasenna.uaa.alaska.edu/~atmi

Sharing Secrets

shhh.. I have a secret that I'm going to tell only you.

I really like bugs. I could search for them for hours in the woods.
And, I like to chase flies. When they land, I squat down to look at them very closely.
(I really want to touch one with my hand, but I think it might feel weird.)

shhh....

What about you? Do you have a secret you'd like to tell me?

Glamour Photos Shoot

Grandma Sherry was in town visiting for almost a week! We kicked off our visit with a little glamour photo shoot at the beach.

Whadya think? Are we ready for a glossy mag?

Families Match

Notice how our outfits all go together. That's right - we're family, we match.

p.s. I'm wearing blue and grey tomorrow, Gramps.

It's Only Fair!

So, I gotta include some pics of my friends that I hung out with at the Girdwood Forest Fair.

The guy with the really strong arm muscles is my pediatrican, Patrick Huffman. He got the Fair late, so I gave him the tour. Here I'm pointing out where to get a killer kielbasa.

Then, there's River (who I like to call Rivvy because I can't quite say my Rs well). He also goes by RivDog, The Rivster, or just Riv. He's sporting an amazing tie-dye shirt, a Forest Fair essential.

Last is dear, sweet Petal.
Arctic Poppy Petal, how I love you.
If only you could walk, I would run away with you tomorrow.

Sleepy Monster

It's hard to get some sleep in these long bright Alaskan summer days when the seems the sun barely sets, but the Sleep Monster my mom made for me helps me get some zzzzzs!

Girdwood Forest Fair

Last weekend I hung out at the Girdwood Forest Fair because my mom and her friend Bronwyn had a booth there. My sold a new creation of hers - Sleep Monsters! They really work well (see previous post!) They're filled with lavender, hops and chamomile, and have a little pocket in the back 'for your dreams'. She'll make one for you if you like!

She also sold some little purses that she made, and hula hoops. You can check out her blog at www.cosmichoops.blogspot.com for more news about her hula hooping hobby. (She finally took my advice and got her own blog!)

Alaskan Gothic

My Grandpa Nelson and I have been doing some work in the yard.
There's always something that needs to be done out there!

Light Reading

My mom and I kicked it at the library the other day for some "light reading".
She likes it when I read to her.
