I have a baby sister. I think she's real neat.
She likes to go on walks with me, up and down the street.

I have a baby sister, she likes to dance and sing.
I hope you meet her someday cuz she's the sweetest little thing.

Edible Arts & Adorable Children

Each year we ponder endlessly what we will make for the Bunnell Street Arts Center's Edible Arts show, then at the last minute (as in hours before the event) we quickly throw something together. Last year, you might remember "Cheesus" (the face of Jesus carved from a block of Gouda cheese) ... and this year "YES WE CANdy" made from three kinds of licorice, chocolate chips and Marshmellow Fluff.

We love you Barack Obama.

And speaking of Barack Obama, Spencer had two of his three-year old friends over the other day and one of them spotted a sticker of Omaba that I (Kammi) had. She pointed to it and rather excitedly screamed out "That's Barat Obaaa-ma!" which launched Spencer and his other friend into an excited round of "He's our president!" From there, the discussion moved to his former opponent John McCain about which one friend announced resolutely, "I LIKE John McTain, I just didn't want him to WIN!"

Spencerisms

Once kids start to talk, they say the cutest things. . . like:

Of food he doesn't want to eat any more he recommends I "save it to later... in plastic."

Spencer often asks, "Where's you doing, mama?"

Of his sister he says lovingly, "I love my baby sister - she's soooo squishy!"

And if he can't find something, he'll say he doesn't "know to find" Scuffy the Tugboat, for example.

And my favorite the other day when I couldn't write with a dried-out marker and was complaining about it he said, "It doesn't work? Because it doesn't have a battery!?"

I spend a lot of time in my day being a big brother, and keeping Marina Pearl safe.

Right now, one of my favorite activities is dumping all my behicles out on the floor and then arranging them in different formations all over the house.

My baby sister is already a month old!  She's growing up so fast....

Adventure!

We went on a little camping trip across the Bay with our friends Matt, Susanna, and Bea.  We got rained out, so our friends Adele, Gunner and Thea took us to their yurt in Halibut Cove.  By the end of the day, we were all exhausted!
